ACC should be working again once I have it reactivated, but there are some other ongoing issues Notably, faults for Steering angle sensor - no basic setting. I have been struggling with this one for a few days, attempted to set new basic settings using OBDeleven but can't seem to get the process down.
I've googled the problem and read about it on different websites but the procedure doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried the procedure, turning the wheel to the left and to the right. I've tried setting basic settings for steering angle initialization, but that doesn't seem to work either.
The car has been driving fine despite this fault, until today when I turned the car on and was greeted with a loud beep from the dash and a red steering wheel icon with an exclamation point light.
This was new.
On top of that I have no power steering so can't really safely drive. With the steering angle basic settings still not doing anything for me, as a last ditch effort I tried the dreaded "reset to factory settings" option.
I had a backup of my long coding and adaptations, so I was able to recode all of that, but the basic settings for steering angle are still off, and now there are additional faults "Ctrol module faulty" and "Internal malfunction". Also for some reason there is now an AFS error. Can anyone help me out on this one? Log for 44 is below. I can get more scans if that helps. Thanks in advance. Last edited: Jul 12, I know that the owners manual states a "short drive" is required after a battery disconnection, I have tried this with some aggressive turns both ways thrown in to try and get it to re-initalize.
As i have a genuine Ross-Tech Mirco-Can cable and software i plugged this in, which throws up the steering angle sensor as having the following fault.
Turn the steering wheel one turn to the right and one turn to the left. If the steering wheel is straight during the test drive then stop the vehicle with the wheels pointed straight.
Ensure that the steering wheel is not moved again. Keep the engine running and do not switch off the ignition. System voltage at least Last edited by Calvinx; January 3rd, at Reason: my spelling is cack.

Is your steering harder then before when you turn left or right? And please post full auto scan so we can see what is goimg on. Originally Posted by jettaReason: spelling. Find More Posts by Uwe. Hi all well as an update i undertook the Remedial work to try to re-assign the steering angle sensor as suggested and NO go Why if you are an "Approved" Dealer with full diagnostic equipment can you not diagnose the fault???
Can you tell me the email address of VW customer services in wolfsberg Germany? So im told its fixed but im still no clearer why they part suddenly failed after fitting a new battery in the corect manner!!!
I had my battery out of the car for about a month when I changed my clutch and had absolutely no problems with the steering readapting. I backed out of the driveway and within 2 blocks the steering lights went out.
I did charge the battery for about a day prior to hooking it up. It is possible that your new battery sat on the shelf for a long time and didn't have a complete charge.
I probably would have tried charging the battery and then trying the adaption again. I have heard that the charging systems and electronics on these cars can give you problems if you don't start out with a fully charged battery. But they came back and said "we now think the fault lies with the steering ECU" hmmmmmmmmmm after two previous FAILED diagnoses I am by now not convinced of the technical abilities of these guys!!!
So the wife tells them to install the part, as this part will now be their THIRD attempt to repair the vehicle. As the FAILED second diagnosis was on a Friday and they close at 2pm we now have to Jump to the following Monday, and drop the car off at am and ask them to keep us informed of proceedings, they come back and finally tell us after we have harassed them for info that the THIRD diagnosis did not repair the car Doh!!!!!!!
Methinks you guys are only used to brakes, oil changes and the like……. So Friday afternoon pm we rock up to inspect the progress as they close at 2pm on a Friday. We sneak round the side on another building and look in the open workshop door and the car is still approx. The text is a description of the part and failure mode. This is followed by elaborators describing the condition of the fault.
In vehicles that do not support Freeze Frame, that checkbox will not be present. One component of Freeze Frame data is the Fault Priority number as described below:. Fault Frequency shows how many times, during all driving cycles, that the fault that caused the code has recurred. The Reset counter is a number that has been pre-assigned to each fault, with the number of problem-free driving cycles before the fault presumably clears itself.2012 Vw Golf Throttle Codes P0122, P0222, P0221
Each time a driving cycle occurs, and the conditions sufficient to trigger the fault do NOT occur, then the reset counter should go down by one. So if you have a fault with a Reset Counter of 40, if the controller goes through a problem-free driving cycle then that number should go down to If your PC is not connected to a printer when this button is pressed, be sure to use Windows to set the printer to "Work Off-Line" first!
Once you have pressed the Copy Codes button, you may paste the results into the application of your choice, such as MS Word or Notepad. Be aware, this does not fix the problem that caused the fault! General Note.Did you happen to find a solution to your problem? I have exactly the same issue. I have compared my car with another of the same era and the numbers are mostly identical when viewing the live data.
My problem started after having done a gearbox repair. Ihave performed all and any of the initialisation proceedures found on the Ross Tech wiki etc but the fault remains.
I have been able to stop the steering assist from functioning heavy steering by changing settings and then make it function again. This seems to be the million dollar question for VW.
The error code that you're getting is for the torque sensor Gnot the steering angle sensor G From the Ross Tech Wik i:. So far the error has not appeared I drove about 20 km. I think replacing the rack part will fix the issue as the Torque Sensor compartment couldn't be disassembled, at least in my You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. The B Volkswagen check engine lamp is perhaps the most troubling of lights because it could mean so many different things, from you didn't screw the gas cap on tightly enough to look out for pistons flying through the hood and into the stratosphere. The easiest way to find out what this light is telling you is to hook your vehicle up to a scan tool. OBD 2 diagnostic tool looks a little like an oversized calculator and plugs into a communication port inside the car.
After you instruct it to perform the scan, it speaks with your car's computers to find out exactly what's prompting the light to turn on. All auto trouble codes with car brands.
